Doug Palmer is a Certified High Performance Coach (CHPC) and has received formal coach training from the High Performance Institute and the Robbins-Madanes Training Center. He provides high-level leadership and performance coaching. He holds bachelor’s degrees in both psychology and criminal justice. He has studied and applied the principles of leadership, understanding human behavior for optimal performance, communication skills, difficult conversations/conflict management, accountability, team building, culture development, and emotional intelligence for over 30 years. Doug has experience coaching and mentoring employees, managers, executives, and business owners. He works with individuals and groups to help them understand and apply what it takes to continually perform at higher and higher levels, while being happier and more fulfilled throughout the process.
Doug is also an active black belt in karate and teaches all levels of karate. He continues his development by training and teaching several classes a week. Through the karate curriculum, he teaches leadership, communication, and conflict management skills. In addition to teaching karate, Doug has taught classes for self-defense, defensive tactics, the mindset on violent encounters, predictive behaviors of predators, and the psychological and physiological effects of stress on performance.
Doug retired after approximately 30 years of federal criminal investigative experience as a special agent with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). He has 24 years of experience as a use of force instructor. He was part of the ATF Special Response Team (SRT) for 13 years, conducting high risk tactical operations. For part of his career, Doug was the lead use of force instructor for the ATF National Academy. He also served as the Chief, Law Enforcement Training Branch of the ATF National Academy, where he was responsible for supervising the delivery of training for all new special agents, curriculum development, instructor selection, and the continuity of training from class to class. He is certified by the Force Science Institute in the human performance factors in critical incidents. In over a decade in various leadership and supervisory roles, he was a mentor and created high performing and synergistic teams.
